Personal history

Echo grew up on Earth, born to rich parents who had high expectations for her. They had her life planned out from before the time she was born. After a while this began to chafe on Echo as she began to feel suffocated. Once she went to university she began to rebel in small ways. Eventually joining hacking group. She excelled at her studies and became a skilled computer scientist and electronics whizz.
An accident when she was 19 left her paralysed from the waist down. She didn't let this stop her and advances in neural-machine connectivity allowed her to meld with her wheelchair and continue with her studies after a year of recuperation. Once she graduated she began work for a large scientific research company as a systems security analyst. Over time she realised that there was a level of corruption and unethicalness within the company that she was not happy with. She tried to blow the lid on a project that was taking advantage of vulnerable people, however she underestimated how high up the corruption went, and the level to which those involved were willing to go to protect their interests. She ended up having to go on the run.

They eventually caught up to her and things would have ended very badly for her if she hadn't been rescued by a kind hearted space pirate. Booth Draven had been conducting an infiltration of the facility where she was being held and interrogated. Not one to see someone being practically tortured and do nothing about it, he freed her and took her with him, stealing a proto-type spaceship on the way out. Realising her talents he gave her a job and a home. She has been part of his crew ever since.
