Lord Winescale

Lord Winescale (or by his birth name Lord Bormerleg) is the Overlord of Ysnorr, the north-easterly most region of Tentandia. Winescale is a member of the Empyrean Hold, ruling with a seat on the Hold's Council in Salamis (Caer Elvendon).  Bormerleg was given the moniker "Winescale" at a tournament by an opponent on the list in an attempt to belittle and defeat Bormerleg before the joust began.  Instead, Bormerleg has taken the moniker "Winescale" as a name of power, using this identity to install fear in his enemies and trust in his people.  Lord Winescale is powerful in his own right, controlling one of the larger individual regions in Tentandia and a powerful army.  Further, Lord Winescale has many contacts and treaties with rulers beyond the lands of Tentandia, making him one of the more internationally facing members of the Hold's Council.  Winescale's international ties and Ysnorr's status as a primary gateway to Tentandia via the sea have afforded him some autonomy within the Hold's Council.  Unlike the other lords, Winescale is more interested in expanding the reach of the Empyrean Hold beyond the shores of Tentandia through a mixture of soft and hard power.  His tenacity in his private, imperial ambitions coupled with his economic exploits abroad have brought him under much scrutiny from other members of the Hold's Council.      In recent years, Lord Winescale's ambitions have made him the target of the machinations of his colleagues on the Hold's Council.  Citing his overt political and military actions as a threat to Tentandia, escalating clauses and censures have been levied against Lord Winescale.  These simmering conflicts have recently become the open War of the High Hold between Lords Winescale and Graendrek, which has seen much of Tentandia fall into open warfare.  The war has been largely kept between these combatants, with expected allies in Lord Albion and Lord Nyptos being barred from entering the conflict by the Hold's Council.  While initially swinging in his favor, Lord Winescale has recently been pushed back to the point of defeat by an interloping force.  Bearing black and silver banners with a talon clutching a skull, this mysterious force has forced Lord Winescale to retreat to his fortress of Tengerior and weather a bitter siege.

The Seven and Lord Winescale

The Seven have never directly met or interacted with Lord Winescale, but have been at odds with him and his forces since their inception, beginning with the theft of Lord Winescale's Oathstone from Wyndfleot.  The Seven have fought Winescale's forces at Wyndfleot, Jian Ortheiad, in the Dark Woods and at Denevrod (by proxy through allied Lord Grindenvel), Broadsky, Calm Winds, Middleham, and at Range's Edge.  After the defeat of Lord Grindenvel in the Barony War, Lord Winescale's troops appeared fighting alongside soldiers bearing the sigil of Radagos.  This apparent alliance held until recently, when after the battle of Range's Edge the Seven learned Radagos' forces had penned Lord Winescale in at the fortress of Tengerior.    More importantly perhaps, the Seven still retain Lord Winescale's Oathstone.  The loss of this artifact has dearly cost Lord Winescale prestige, power, and authority, and directly caused the War of the High Hold currently racking Tentandia.  It is currently unknown if Lord Winescale knows who has his Oathstone or if he is specifically targeting the Seven in some way.  The fate of Lord Winescale, the War of the High Hold, and Tentandia remains to be seen.   Cities and locations of note in the holding of of Lord Winescale include: Wyndfleot, Broadsky, Calm Winds, and Tengerior.
