Temple of the Divines

The temple was constructed as a place to worship all the Divines, rather than be dedicated to a single deity. People prayed here to ensure they received just treatment from the gods and where crimes were read out and punishments delivered.    Thirty massive columns supported the roof. The entire structure was done in the finest white marble. Both the exterior and interior walls were painted over with colorful motifs.   Countless pilgrims have traveled over the years to visit the temple and pay homage to the gods. Contents and Furnishings: Sixteen life-size chryselephantine statues stood at the main chamber’s far end. Elevated on a marble dais, each represented one of the main Divines in exquisite detail. They included:   Teris: God of the sky, rain, agriculture in the spring. Popular with commoners and royalty alike.   Peron: God of wisdom, king of the gods, the earth, and agriculture in the summer. Brother to Teris. Both him and his brother are invoked when planting crops so they will grow well. King and overseer of the afterlife, an alternate plane of existence resembling the world of the living. His name is usually colloquially as the name of the afterlife.   Narokes: God of rivers, irrigation, and guardian of the primordial waters and mythological underground ocean. Prayed to by humans along with his other two brothers to ensure crops grow.   Holmera: Goddess of the sun, fire, and craftsmen, protector of smiths, twin sister to Kynare.   Kynare: Goddess of the moon and marriage, twin sister to Holmera.   Nebika: Goddess of fertility, fruit, and feminine sexuality. The goddess of forests in some areas.   Ertano: God of the hunt, protection, and masculine sexuality. Originally came from the east and originally had more aspects that were gradually stripped away or assigned to other gods. For example, in other lands he was the god of fertility and a great hero of men before ascending to godhood after his death by his grieving lover - a goddess.   Limai: Goddess of the sea, fishing, and commerce.   Mapera: Goddess of the earth, growth, new life, and queen of the gods.   Eadys: Goddess of the dusk and dawn, light, guardian of man during the night.   Damios: God of the harvest and war, of plenty and scarcity.   Hisemo: God of wine, moderation, and viticulture.   Beomaro: God of the arts, medicine, and vegetation.   Eperios: God of fire and protector of both households and commercial spaces.   Lilia: Goddess of messengers, patroness of olive groves, and protector of forbidden lovers; symbolized by the olive branch and the dove.   Phina: Guardian of the wild; originally a Fahris goddess.   Beside the statues, the treasury contained countless treasures. There was everything from gold and silver to dedicated weapons and armor.
