Silvos Vampirism

Transmission & Vectors

Silvos Vampirism is transmitted by drinking the blood of a Silvos while they drink yours.

Causes

A curse/blessing from the god.

Symptoms

Silvos vampires have excellent night vision, and a very minor healing factor. They are also gifted with a heavy sort of charisma. Finally, they have great strength and speed.   Silvos skin is sensitive to sunlight, and will burn easily. However, they will not immolate. These reactions are more intense in the dawn and dusk.

Treatment

Vampire's Bane is effective on Silvos vampirism.

Prognosis

Once turned, a Silvos will slowly start to wither away. Not age, literally wither. Their skin will shrivel and wrinkle and pale. Without blood, they will wither away to literal dust and die. Drinking blood will return them to either their current form, or their prime.

Prevention

There is no way to prevent this other then the will of the gods.

History

60 BCE. The Republic is slowly falling apart, and Quintus Servilius Horatius is one of many from the Senatorial rank who saw the threat to his power in the rise of Julius Caesar. In fear and seeing that the tools of state were not doing their job, Quintus went to the gods and begged them for assistance, and they obliged him. Being the Roman Gods, however, their gift came at a price. Quintius was given the power to be stronger, smarter, and faster than your average person, but this would cause his body to root from the inside without fresh blood to fuel it. They did this by destroying the bond between his life and his body, but using magic to reinforce the bonds between body, mind, and soul. That magic spell required a blood sacrifice to continue. They then gave him the ability to give this power to other people. He gladly accepted this, not realizing the price. Caesar eventually took over anyway, and Horatius and his Underlings left, eventually inhabiting the land that would become known as Poland. They made a name for themselves there, becoming fairly high ranked a few times before the next country came to absorb them, as it eventually always did. The clan eventually spread beyond the lands, and made it all the way back to Rome around the time of Justinian. Horatius himself ruled the clan until the 1800s, when the massacre killed many of his clan. The clan was one of the hardest hit, given the ease with which they could be detected but the fluency with which they could move in public. Then, World War I and II happened and the remaining Silvos were largely whipped out in this conflicts. Katie is the one of if not the only survivor, and she only survived because a member of the much more prominent Romanov clan took great pains to ensure that.

Cultural Reception

Like many vampires, Silvos are not liked by the public who know their existence. They were almost driven to extinction years and years ago, but a few of them survived.
