Causes

When another mage casts it upon you.

Symptoms

The afflicted is unable to use - or be affected by - magic. They are effectively an area of dead space in magic.

Treatment

Ironically, the Magic Seal would be an incredibly easy spell to remove, if it didn't prevent the target from also being affected by the means of removing it. As it stands, the only way to remove it is to hope it wears off.

Prognosis

The curse simply affects someone, and then stops affecting them once its energy has run out.

Prevention

It is a remarkably easy spell to counter and avoid, which is why it is never used.

History

Invented by the Romans as a from of restraint against magic users, it has since been applied throughout the magical world as a sort of magic handcuff.

Cultural Reception

Those afflicted with it often times find themselves outcast, as the main reason you probably have it is as a result of some legal entity putting it on you.
