Tempus Fugit

Once, this was the world as we knew it.   Shortly after the turn of the century, a villain rose: Rastin, a refugee from a world of magic who had tried to steal it all for himself, only to bring it to Earth instead, declared his plans to conquer the world with his mastery of the Loom - an artifact that could supposedly control everything about how magic worked.   His control of it, however, was not quite what he thought, and backed into a corner by opposing forces, his attempt to use it for himself instead destroyed it, releasing its power all at once. This burst of magic banished him, but instead brought his victims to Earth: the people of Ebbon, now without any memories of their home world, but with a new life on Earth.   The people of Earth struggled with these changes and the new powers of magic, both using them for destruction in violence against each other and their new neighbors, and in great acts of creation, revolutionizing industry and creating spaceships and portal gates that could take them around the world and to the stars.   It's been thirty years since that great magical event, now called The Dawn. And, while things have calmed down some, these are still interesting times in which to be alive.
