Mechanics & Inner Workings
The Talon Flag of the Gubru has come to be respected over the centuries. The Gubru describe it as a large white pennant (the majority of which is unseen), symbolizing the unmolted majority, over which three smaller ensigns in the royal colors have been superimposed. The apex of the emblem symbolizes the dagger like Gubru middle talon, as well as the Order of Rod and Talon (Research and Warfare). Upper right signifies the Order of Propriety and Procedure (Religion and Government). Upper left is for the Order of Cost and Caution (Finance and Diplomacy).
The colors of the ensigns will vary depending on the outcome of the molt: Before the molt, each of the three Suzerains represent one of the three orders of Gubru culture. As they compete for dominance, the one with the best policy will molt into Queenly Red. The remaining will molt into Princely Blue and Yellow/Gold/Green. The overlap pattern will demonstrate relative dominance of the Orders overall. This can change over the course of a Triad’s reign. In practice, the ensign colors are matched with that of the monarch, combined with a white base panel, with the pattern changing overtime as needed.
If a royal passes, the flag remains unchanged, until the new Queen arises. Lower ranking but intact triads can ascend to reign, or new Suzerains can emerge, with fresh ideas, to challenge the previous order.
