Qiphril
Apparently, the Qiphril are what constitutes as the dominant, sapient species on this world. They have so far spread across the whole planet Noumia and onto some of the moons, know how to speak, use tools and kill each other with more than just claws and teeth. They are also superstitious and easy to fool, so I may be stretching the "sapient" part a bit here.
The Qiphril are a species of sapient creatures, having evolved from some type of reptile over the past billion of years. This theory may be widely debated among the scientific community of the many nations on Noumia, but the evidence so far strongly suggest this.
The similarities to the reptiles Samphan are many. They both share the hairless features with a turquoise and slightly scaley skin as well as the small eyes, that are some shade of red, maroon or orange for most Qiphrillians. Unlike those lizards however, Qiphrillians walk upright and use their four digit hands freely for the use of tools.. They have some colorful markings on their faces, that differ greatly between regions of the world and are often rather distinctive within families.
I do not know, where the obsession with technology and magic comes from, but the Qiphrillians have it. They may not understand what they are using but every time some wanna be scientist or dabbling magician finds something new, these sheep are trying to show their status by wearing the newest technological advancement openly visible. Just last week I saw some person walking around with small gears sewn into his clothes. ridiculous.
The Qiphrillians have a tendency to wear clothing that demonstrates their latest technological advancements. This is both culturally significant and often a necessity, as most of the planet's climate is too cold or humid and therefore not perfectly suitable for the physiology of the cold-blooded species.
As a species, the average Qiphrillian is very inquisitive and curious about unknown things. They tend to only superficially care for the question on how to use or sell a thing to their benefit and only a few care enough about the deeper nature of things. This does not, however, stop them from wanting to expand their spheres of influence constantly, often through aggressive but not ultimately military means.
