Fungal Sir Gregory Blakhuv
Gregory feels to be an outsider in every way. It’s difficult enough to be the only centaur most people have ever seen and on top of that, his familial relationship with fungus is rather off-putting to the common citizen. Gregory’s default posture is with his head down and alone using his enchanted “ring of the quadruped” to hide in plain sight, despite his sickly appearance. Gregory enjoys acting civilized and gentlemanly. It makes him feel like the outsider-ness of his situation is a choice. Being a necromantic Centaur isn’t all bad when drawing attention or fear is advantageous. Gregory’s secret isn’t the best kept. He is known in certain circles to be a skilled guide, tracker or bounty hunter, using both his biped and quadruped form when it suits him. Gregory believes in a full circle of life: life, death, fortune, and misfortune all have equal parts within the circle.
Gregory doesn’t remember anything before the box. The box was aboard a humid ship and the stench of decay surounded it. Gregory was chosen to escape. He was chosen by the fungus. The fungus rotted and decayed the box and when the ship landfall Gregory was able to escape to shore, but not without a casualty or two. Gregory held out his hand to stop the whip but instead spores flew from his hand and chocked his captors. He was chosen by the spores. Gregory survived in the wilds alone and in his late teens was happened upon by a group of adventures in need of a guide. In turn they would give him a magic ring (unless to them). Gregory agreed, and so he began his career. It wasn’t long until he gained some reputation and even gained the favore and occasional employment of the king in the south, though he always felt like an outsider.
