The Hand (of St. Cuthbert)

Stemming out of Berich Province , The Hand is a growing guild of thieves intent on staking its claim on Solara. Led by the notorious Tasha , this gang of thieves and outlaws looks to keep order to society through semi-nefarious means. They see their work of stealing from the rich as a vital piece in the balance and order of society.
Though at this point the title mostly holds ceremonial sway, the full title of the organization, "The Hand of St. Cuthbert," originates from a cult of Cuthbertian worship. Traditionally, St. Cuthbert is worshipped as a lawful deity battling against the forces of chaos and evil in a constant give-and-take of cosmic order. As such, he and his follows have little sympathy for backhanded tactics such as thievery, poison, etc. However, a certain writing -- Tales of the Vulgar Fool -- recounts a Cuthbert willing to turn to thievery and lechery for the sake of order. Such an interpretation of the Saint is seen as heresy by most Cuthbertian worshippers, but is the foundation on which the Hand was formed, as a thieving organization for the good of societal order.

Structure

The Palm sits at the top of the guild, with five secondary commanders, or Digits, splitting responsibilities directly beneath. Together they form the Fist, the organizing council of the guild. Digits may run individual extensions of the Hand across the continent as assigned by the Palm.

Public Agenda

Thievery, licentiousness, and murder for the betterment of societal order on the whole. All things in balance -- yin and yang and all that jazz (they provide the yang).

Secret base hidden under the Cathedral of St. Cuthbert in Homlett . Stores of gold, artwork, and the yet unclaimed wealth of the fallen barony of Barich. 300+ members of various ranks.
