Greyfields was built near the old ruins of the ancient farming city of Goldenfields. Although these lands remain one of the most fertile in the region, it bears an ancient curse which turns all plantlife, and lands into shades of grey rather than their normal hues. No one knows where the curse originated from, or what its original intent was, but the Clairvoyant have deemed it a "benign" curse that would take too many resources to remove, and thus is left in place. Greyfields, supplies a significant portion of the produce, and other farming materials for the surrounding regions. As such, although it is spread out across a large area, it remains one of the more well defended areas in the wilderness. Greyfields has seen extreme benefits from the technological advances brought about by the Engine, both in cultivation and harvesting of its crops. The citizens of Greyfields give a wide berth to the ruins of Goldenfields. Some say its haunted, others say that monsters still roam within its walls, others say that the land is tainted by the sins of the past. Regardless of their reasons, few ever venture into the ruins of Goldenfields and thus the reports of what is going on there are scattered, but are mostly uniform in nothing interesting is there, and thus it lies abandoned.
