Redbelly Port

Hive of scum, villainy... and freedom

With freedom come all things chaotic, and as well things beautiful. Redbelly Port is an excellent example of this, holding some of the most undermined and mocked people in all of Cauldron of Creation. Having no-one else, the locals have grown to trust into each other like a family and into the Lavish Sea to give them their earnings every day.
The Port itself consists of two parts of the city; "The Ladder" and "The Oasis". In all parts, architecture is largely the same with the only exception being some caverns found in the Ladder. Main architectural elements include reused ship parts, wooden planks and wood harvested from the local palm trees. The settlement produces a small amount of metal as well, but largely provides the luxuries and necessities it does not have from its large pirate fleets.

The Ladder

If Redbelly Port had tourists, its distinguishing feature would be the ramshackle area known as "The Ladder". Lowering down from tall, 120 feet high cliffsides all the way to the inner waters of the Ribbon Archipelago, this creaking and swaying portion of town is used by the most notable figures of the city mostly to climb to the "Oasis" on top of the cliff. Anchored into the walls by hundreds of pitons, ropes and broken down masts jutted in smaller cracks of the cliffside wall, only those constantly on ships or not afraid of a risky lifestyle live in the Ladder.

The Oasis

The Oasis is the highest area of Redbelly Port, offering a beautiful sight over the surrounding smaller islands of the Ribbon Archipelago. It is accessed mainly either through a trek of the tropical island it inhabits uphill, or from ships docked in the Ladder. Deserving of its name, Oasis is surrounded by palm trees and lush forests with a freshwater pond nearby. The oasis is the larger section of the city, spreading further and further down the slopes of the tropical island.

I'm fascinated by the ladder, it sounds completely terrifying to live in or traverse.
