Breaking of Chains

Battlefield of legend and myth

Most information gathered from the Breaking of Chains event comes from humans and the Cabalist's ledge of Kir Vallen.
The most important, and as some would say, the only war to truly have such ramifications on the entire world of Taurua. Centuries, the Empire of Phorexia had flourished under the monstrous, iron-chained rule of the cruel yuan-ti. With the primitive humans used as mere slaves and cattle for the yuan-ti's needs, this is an era of ballads and strange sagas that are the foundation of every human tradition on Taurua.
There were several key components that made the Breaking of Chains possible, and how the event actually came to pass is speculated to this very day as some conflicting information has been gathered on the actual event that took place.
1. Overpopulation of slavefolk. The most often brought-up reason for the extermination and absolute loss of the yuan-ti is how they allowed their slaves to thrive and to populate into too vast amounts, where in the end they were overcome by their own servants. However, when the claimed strength of the yuan-ti is compared to the slaves they owned, the odds seem to still be against their own servants.
2. Infighting among the Yuan-Ti. As most yuan-ti relics and artifacts have been demolished and annihilated by human ancestors, it is difficult to prove, but there may be implications of the ancient Empire of Phorexia being a fractured and weakened Empire possibly due to an historical coup.
3. Cooperation of the slaves. Wherein most military campaigns, versatility and the ability to adapt to different situation can lead to victory. With a collection of what is recorded to be humans, lizardfolk, catfolk, centaur, minotaur and gnomes it would seem plausible that the collaborated effort of all of these forces could find a solution to most battlefield situations. Of course, what came afterwards and how it seems like most of the other slaves perished where humans were victorious is up for debate.
4. The "Iron Teeth". A tradition celebrated to this very day, where humans in secret had learned the mysteries behind heating and forming of metals. This knowledge is said to have come from the strong minotaurs who soon vanished after the fighting was done. This tradition remained with humans, who forged even greater weapons of war as the war continued further and further.

Speculation and Myth

Much of folklore, speculation and myth has born from the conflict andd it would be a fool's effort to write an essay over the Breaking of Chains without addressing some of these myths and stories. These are myths that later have formed into religions, and defined entire cultures. Most of what is considered "traditionally Phorexian" and what those who willingfully choose to follow these traditions by living a primitive lifestyle originates from these stories.
1. "The Ragegod". The Ragegod is a mythological being, often depicted as a monstrous, gargantuan dinosaur with some humanoid features. It is believed that a strong community leaded who lived during this time, "Ghermygg" summoned this being from the combined rage and loss of their entire tribe. It is said that this "Ragegod" battled a "World Serpent" of the yuan-ti where Kir Vallen stands this day. However, due to the absolute lack of bones or signs of such large-scale destruction historians and archaeologists find this extremely hard to confirm.
2. Co-operation with dinosaurs. Where it is a known fact that the Empire of Phorexia used to subject dinosaurs through horrendous torture to make them subject to their will, there is no actual proof of the slavefolk being able to "reach into the dinosaurs" through some other means to co-operate with them without enslaving them first, or taming the wild beasts.
