The Court of Cups

Traditionally the Court of Cups lives at the coast or on an island in the sea. It has been this way for hundreds and hundreds of years, from the beginning. Some people say everybody who lives in and around these ocean castles gets webbed feet. But of course that is only a myth. Cup people are normal humans who just are fascinated by water and the ocean.

Two big clusters of professions are very common in these cities: Water based professions like divers, fishermen, lifeguards, boat builders, sailmakers, fish cooks and the like.

With thirteen years everyone is introduced to the other three magical elemental signs, wands, swords and pentacles and learns their uses, too.

With twenty one years the now grown up gives back to the community and gives a present to family and teachers, an official sign what he or she represents in this world. That can be something practical as well as something creative.

Common Myths and Legends

It is said that cup people are friends with mermaids and sea dragons and that some even can transform into such a being. You often see pictures and statues of these creatures in their homes.

It is also said that their intense gaze shows that they can read thoughts.

There is a legend that the Gods of the sea, the ocean itself built the Court cities.
