Helfdome - Realm of the North

Beyond the northern reach of the Great Forest, and the Tyrant Ridge mountains there lies the land of Helfdome the northern most continent known to be populated.    Throughout the early reaches of history this land was dotted by small villages isolated in the sparse ever green trees that dotted the border of the ice fields to the north, and its coasts held great fishing villages that hunted for great whales and squid. Now, post-Shattering it has become a tertiary bastion for the Jaralian Empire of mankind.  It's vast tundras and plains now named as countries of the empire, more cities and roads dot the open fields and the land has been worked into some paltry semblance of control.    Still, great cities exist here, Stockton the heart of justice, Couthshou the safe haven and the coastal metropolis of New Wharf. Dotted with great mountains and titanic lakes and swamp lands, the northern reaches of Helfdome are home to the largest population of the Barbarous race of humans and the last vestiges of Primal Thriband known to exist above ground.

Geography

The southern reaches of Helfdome are rolling hills of knee high yellow grass, plains nearly as far as the eye can see. Occasionally deep swamp lands exist hidden beneath the grass looking to catch unsuspecting travellers unaware. The southern and mid-lands are also dotted with a sparse collections of mountains.    The further north one ventures the shorter the grass grows eventually being replaced with permafrost ground and sparse collections of dense evergreen forests. Here the few mountains that stand south of the Shattered Straight rise like titanic shadows over the land, lonely and scattered.    Beyond this, and the borders of the great city Stockton is the Shattered Straight and the Ysh-ra lake, a rip in the country formed by The Shattering separating the far northern lands of the Blood Peaks (a series of red stone mountains) and the endless ice fields of the frost giants, barbarians, and primal, nomadic orc tribes. Scattered throughout this small gap between the northern ice fields are a collection of deep valleys of red shrubbery and nearly permanently frozen lakes.

Fauna & Flora

Helfdome is populated by rich fields that are fed by gentle rivers, fresh water mountain springs providing an excellent source of hearty grains. Flora is often tough and grows low to the ground covered in blood red patches and thorns. Trees are relatively sparse in the south outside of the Great Forest, with larger forests existing in the far north, deep vast woods of evergreens that dot the deep valleys.    As for fauna Helfdome's cities survive mostly on cattle, bison and cows providing milk, cheese and meat as well as leather. Mountain goats are also used in many major cities for their milk and furs. The plains are often known to hold host to packs of wolves that rove from sparse trees to trees, and large crocodiles have been known to exist in the scattered swamplands. Beyond this, great herds of elk and reindeer exist and travel across the tundra to the north, followed by the thriband and barbarian tribes. Bears of many varieties are also known to share the scattered wood lands and Remohrazes are known to burrow and lurk beneath the most northern parts of the continent.    It's skies are occasionally home to great Rocs and the occasional Thunderbird. Within the mountains many harpies, rust monsters, and great eagles are known to roost.

Natural Resources

Grain is the greatest natural resource throughout the southern reaches of the continent. The majority of the inner land is truly land locked, requiring these vast fields to maintain cattle. Beyond this the large mountains that exist across the continent are natural resources of iron and more commonly than other places of the world with platinum and adamantite.    The coast line and the Scattered Straight are rich with hearty fish schools and are famous for being a natural pathway for whale pods that provide food for immense amounts of people and oil to burn.    Few dare harvest the wood of the Great Forest at the southern border, but the few who do dare are often extremely gifted at harvesting the ancient trees without destroying them or greatly damaging the forest.    Furs and hides are of great abundance as well with the many bears, herds of elk and reindeer it provides a rich resource of leathers and clothing.
