Properties

Material Characteristics

Dazzling, a rainbow of color, the purest of cuts, it seems alive with magick, and truly is. Diamond, soulstone as it is called, thrums with energy of life. Pure bits of Meanma, these stones make even the mundane, the non practitioner feel more alive.

Physical & Chemical Properties

To most, the untrained masses, it is but a beautiful shimmering gem. For though these exist, it is rare to find any still full of manna. Those whom are trained in the magicks of Meanma, or those whom have mastered the art of runesmithing, they see far more. To magi of the Meanma, this sort of gem is a conduit, a way to have access to pure manna, pure energy of Meanma. And if they can find a place of power, a well, a leyline of Meanma, they can recharge the gem.

Compounds

Using the methods and secrets of the runesmiths, one can make a fine crackling magical powder of this gem, and use it in rune etching. Again most commonly used on arms and armor, it can have many effects, providing life energy to aid in stitching wounds, or to protect, to guide. The energy of life and spirit is versatile indeed.

History & Usage

Everyday use

When used by a magi trained in manipulating the energies of Meanma, of the Spirit, these crystals allow them to manipulate and harness some energy untouched by the chaos of the Abyss. The amount will vary, depends upon the size of the gem, it may only last a spell or two, but it is a massive advantage, the chance to cast without risk of the Gods of Chaos somehow ripping asunder your magick with their taint. But these crystals, used properly by skilled gnomish or dwarven runesmiths can also enhance and enchant all manner of item, weapons and armor being most common. This gift inevitably varies, based upon the skill of the runesmith, and upon the runes being inlayed with this gems carefully prepared dust. In armors, for example, a common use is to enhance one's spiritual strength, enhancing their mental fortitude to face the darkness, the void, the Abyss. This is but one example, as though many associate Meanma with Spirit and Will, it is the energy of life and the soul in all its facets, and the effects can be strange, wonderful and unexpected. Runesmithing is as much art as it is science once one involves elemental crystals.
