The Church's Flowering

I want to woo the person of my dreams. In your world, how do I go about this?

The Origins Of The Church's Flowering

When the Church of Tareh first came into being, every group of people had their own wooing, courting, and marriage rites that had been in that group since the beginning of time. However, once the Church of Tareh gained power in Tareh, not only did they seek to destroy other religions, but they also sought to unify the cultures of Tareh into one singular culture. This included getting rid of all the different types of wooing and marriage rites that had existed for millennia before the Church of Tareh was even conceived in the mind of the One.   For the first few decades after the creation of the Church of Tareh, people were allowed to follow their old wooing and marriage rites. Once the Church had seized power over most of Tareh though, it began the destruction and assimilating of other cultures into its own under its second Hand of Glahor, Survaze Duuzefk. This led to a large amount of outrage by the people of Tareh, but the military hand of the Church quickly silenced those who spoke against their methods of unifying the land under one religion.   To help make the changes more palatable to the people of Tareh, the Church created a new set of wooing and marriage rites, with the most common being known as the Church's Flowering. The act of marrying in the Church was often referred to as Stepil, taken from the names of the sexual organs of flowers. To woo another person in the Church was referred to as flowering, as the end goal of such an act was to become one with the other person. Much of the language surrounding dating and marriage within the Church is related to flowers because the Church of Tareh hopes to present itself as a wholesome and loving religion.

How To Flower With Another Person

Performing the Church's Flowering is not a complicated task, and it is centered around bringing out the innocence and beauty that exists within flowers. Every group of people may tweak the Church's Flowering to better suit their group's unique culture, but overall the Church's Flowering is the same regardless of where in Tareh a person decides to visit. The only people that do not use the Church's Flowering are dissident groups that do not ascribe to the faith of the Church of Tareh.   First, the person seeking to begin the Church's Flowering with another person must find the local flower that represents love in their region. Some regions use the same flower to represent love, but most have their own unique flower. Once the person instigating the Church's Flowering finds the flower representing love in their region, they must wait till the night of a late gibbous moon, and right as the moon reaches its zenith, the following words must be spoken to the receiver of the Church's Flowering while the flower is being held between the two people beginning the Church's Flowering.
As the light of this moon shines down upon us,
I call upon Glahor to bathe us in his light.
He gives us life and he gives us death.
He gives us food and he gives hunger.
He gives us water and he gives us thirst.
He gives us love and he gives us hate.
I ask you now to join me in hearts.
I ask you now to join me in souls.
I ask you now to join me in bodies.
Join me now in the Church's Flowering.

Become one with me in the Church's Flowering. Once the speech is complete, the two will take the flower and each will pull of one petal. Once the petal drops the ground, they will return to the instigator's home. The next morning the instigator of the Church's Flowering will take the flower to a local metalsmith where the flower will be encased in metal for the rest of the union between the two partakers of the Church's Flowering.
