Constellations and the sky

The stars in the night sky do not move uniformly, as they do in the real world. Instead they move back and forth, overlapping and departing from each other. Stars do not move by themselves, but in fixed groups called constellations. There are many constellations in the sky but the 8 most prominent ones govern the 8 months of the year. Without fail, the 8 major constellations always move into prominence in the north during their month.   There are other, minor constellations as well including stars that are lone drifters. All heavenly bodies have mythological stories and folk tales regarding them. Fortune tellers and prophets will use the dynamic motions of the heavens and the constellations to predict the future.

Major Constellations

The 8 major constellations in order of month are:
  1. The Tower. Early spring (Mar). Always standing in the northern sky, the Tower moves the least out of all constellations, moving up and down between the horizon and the sun once per year. A single star at the top of the Tower is one of the brightest stars in the sky. People born under the sign of the Tower are seen as reliable and patient.
  2. The Warrior. Late Spring (Apr-May). Proud and ever pursuant of defeating the dragon. People born under the sign of the Warrior are regarded as hot tempered and strong willed.
  3. The Lion. Early Summer (Jun). The king of the skies, the other constellations give the Lion a wide berth when its his month. People born under the sign of the Lion tend to have strong leadership qualities and a sense of justice.
  4. The Dragon. Late Summer (July-Aug). The dragon is ever plotting against the Warrior and the other constellations. People born under the sign of the Dragon are seen as greedy and clever.
  5. The Rose. Early Fall (Sep). The flower of the heavens, the rose brings forth life and harvest. People born under the sign of the Rose are considered kind and empathetic.
  6. The Sage. Late Fall (Oct-Nov). The wise sage is always seeking knowledge. People born under the sign of the sage are natural mages and scholars.
  7. The Leviathan. Early Winter (Dec). The Leviathan moves the most across the sky in a year. People born under the sign of the Leviathan are ever changing their minds and natural explorers.
  8. The Shadow. Late Winter (Jan-Feb). The Shadow is always near another constellation, listening and whispering. People born under the sign of the Shadow tend towards being reserved. People born under the sign of the Shadow tend to be serendipitous but distrusted.
