RAW MATERIALS & COMPONENTS

Body: 6 g - Hollowed out bone splinter from a Drakkar femur. Casing/Grip: 7 g - Tellium.
Nib: 1 g - A tube-like, flexible, translucent "spine" from an unknown amphibian.

TOOLS

The organic parts of this stylus are older than the grip. The bone and spine were worked using fine hand tools.
The Tellium mechanism and scrollwork was created by an artisan using pre-cataclysm technology.

MECHANICS & INNER WORKINGS

The internal mechanism is straightforward, functioning much like an expensive ballpoint pen.
The nib is retractable, sliding within the bone sheath when the button on the Tellium casing is pressed. It extends via the same mechanism.
If you use the small, sliding lever, water can be drawn through the nib and stored in a small sac hidden inside the bone body. If filled, it produces a dark, purple ink that writes on most surfaces.
The ink has similar qualities to venom if it gets into the bloodstream. If someone is jabbed with the nib (call it self-defense), the unfortunate individual will die of anaphylaxis in less than five minutes. There is no cure, and the toxin breaks down in the body within half an hour.
Due to unknown factors, the nib hasn't worn down, even after centuries of use.

UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME

When the stylus was passed to Kyrie Trel Ason, he had the organic parts of it scanned. The DNA of the bone confirmed it was from a pre-Cataclysm Drakkar. The first pass of the stylus tip confirmed that it was from an amphibian, but a deeper scan showed that both it and the odd sac hidden inside the bone body pre-dated the bone and had Drakkar DNA as well. Kyrie chose to keep this information to himself and had the scientists who'd seen the results placed on permanent hiatus.
