The Caeoline
The Caeoline quarter is mass of old and winding streets wrapped around workshops, breweries, studios and smithies. It is home to the bulk of the cities craftsmen and most of the cities dwarves live here. The main temples to Vulcan and Janus can be found here.
Demographics
Lower and middle class craftsmen make up the bulk of the inhabitants. Predominantly imperial though around 10% are other races, including a high proportion of dwarves.
Defences
The quarter is around 300 years old and so are its defences, a thick wall that has been well maintained over the years.
Industry & Trade
The narrow and winding streets house workshops of every conceivable kind, from humble cobblers, tanners and blacksmiths to master carpenters, alchemists and jewellers. This is the place within Cardena to get things made.
Infrastructure
The streets of the Caeoline are narrow and winding, with buildings thrown up by craftsmen more interested in their own needs than any overall city aesthetics. Navigating the streets is something of an art. The temples to Vulcan and Janus can be found in this quarter.
Guilds and Factions
Numerous trade guilds struggle for dominance of the trades council, which sets many of the by laws of the district.
History
The quarter is around 300 years old, built on and around the Caeoline hill to meet the needs of a growing city.
Architecture
Ramshackle and ever changing. The quarter is prone to industrial fires and numerous sections have been rebuilt in a number of different styles.
