Calgar Pagitax
Emperor Calgar Pagitax
The founder and first Emperor of the Empire of Cardenia. Once a soldier, then a warlord, Pagitax made a pact with the blood god Mars, granting him the strength and the cunning to conquer the seven cities that formed the basis of the now mighty Empire of Cardenia.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Known to me tall and well built, supposedly a formidable warrior.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
The details of Calgar Patiax's early years are unknown, but it is known that he served as a captain of the gaurd in Cardenna. It is said that he deemed the cities rulers corrupt and quit in order to become a warlord leading a band of mercenaries. The reason for his decision to turn against the seven cities that form the heart of the empire is unknown, but what is well documented is the pact he made with the blood god Mars, seven cities in exchange for a pile of skulls the size of which the world had never seen.
True to his word Calgar conquered the seven cities and named himself Emperor. The skulls lie under the temple of Mars in Cardenna's Old Quarter.
Education
Probably limited but it is known that he could read and write, including reading maps.
Employment
Captain of the city gaurd, warlord, tyrant, emperor.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Conquered seven cities and created the Empire. If you live in the empire, look around you. Those are Calgar Pagitax's achievements.
Failures & Embarrassments
Arguably his pact with the necromancer Master Edas . Edas raised and army of the dead to fight off Pagitax's enemies in order to give his wounded army time to recover. Pagitax later insisted that this was a terrible transgression and not what he wanted. Edas was exiled as a result.
Mental Trauma
His friend and protector Lord Athengarn was turned into a vampire defending Pagitax.
Intellectual Characteristics
Keen grasp of tactics, truly inspiring leader.
Morality & Philosophy
While it is argued that Pagitax fought out of a desire to eradicate corruption, he was without doubt ruthless to a fault, more than willing to attack first, and even willing to bargain with necromancers to ensure victory.
Taboos
An apparent unwillingness to use necromancy, although only after the fact.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Although historians argue that Pagitax was as crusader against corrupt and lazy rulers, there can be no doubt that any person wanting to call themselves emperor must possess a huge amount of ambition.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Formidable tactician, fighter, and leader.
Vices & Personality flaws
Seemed to believe that all matters had to be settled in blood.
