Description: Species name: Serali (raven people, steampunk aesthetic) Continent: Auralus Weight: 60-80 lbs Height: 5-6’ Wingspan: 15-20’ Feathers: White (due to arcticization) Eyes: Black Gate: Flying/Bipedal Build: Tall but somewhat squishy (due to hollow bones required for flight) Age of maturity: 15 years Lifespan: 180-200 years Society and Structure: The Serali live in a highly organized society governed by an elected council of 7 individuals known as the Court of Libralta. They reside in the capital city of Areos at the center of Auralus. Areos is the largest of all the many Serali cities spanning the arctic snow fields. These cities are built not horizontally, but vertically, with tall bronze and gold skyscrapers reaching up to several thousand feet high. These skyscrapers are heated via steam power, and Serali cities can often be seen miles away by the smoke they emit. The Serali when not flying wear thick fur shawls, made to cover their wings in the cold. When flying in battle or hunting, the Serali will wear a very thin metal armor made with a mix of chainmail and thin metal plates. In total it only weighs a few pounds but takes training to fly properly with. When the Serali fight they usually do so in the air. They wield two long thin sabers in each of their talons. Airships have cannons as well as mounted harpoons, and cities will also be guarded with cannons and large bold turrets atop buildings. The Serali travel to and from these cities via airship. These ships along with harpoons are used to hunt whales in the ice fields along the edges of Auralus. Airships are also considered the only viable way in and out of Auralus as the arctic continent is surrounded by towering ice spires in the water, not to mention the leviathans within the ocean itself. The Serali believe in two gods known as the great weavers. Athera the goddess of light, birth, the sun, love, and good fortune, she is depicted as a pure white raven with a golden beak, eyes and talons, and is depicted holding the sun. Noctus, the god of darkness, the moon, the stars, death, and hardships, he is depicted as a pure black raven with a silver beak, eyes, and talons, and is depicted holding the moon. It is believed by the Serali believe that Auralus used to be great dark forest, and that they used to have the black feathers of Noctus to help them blend in, but when a great cold hit and all the trees were destroyed, the Serali had no choice but to leave or adapt. They believe that those who left were cursed by Noctus to become the leviathans in the ocean, and those who stayed to protect their home were blessed by Athera with the ability to withstand any cold, and given her white feathers to blend into the snow. They believe the great ice spires are the last remnants of the dark forest. The Serali have two types of magic, air and transmutation. With their air magic Sreali can control air currents and summon wind with the energy around them. Their transmutation magic allows them to transform objects of one element into different objects of that element. For example, a hunk of metal can be transmuted into a sword by the Serali with no need for a forge, but they cannot turn ice into a metal sword. This only works on inanimate objects as well and not living beings. This transmutation ability is what allows the Serali to build their monolithic cities and advanced airships.
