The Deep

The Deep is a dense, magical forest that covers the southern half of Amberlin. Much that is known about The Deep is just speculation, for those who venture too far rarely return. However some explorers have entered and documented their discoveries. It is said that at a certain point within The Deep, you can feel the magic manifesting itself like an energy. The magic disorients many a traveler, making it almost impossible to leave it's grasp.
It's flora grows at an abnormally fast pace, and even faster during Spring and Summer, destroying everything it it's path. It is known to have engulfed entire civilizations. In order to stem the forest's rapid germination, fires are lit along the border by local townsfolk. But recently, the forest seems to be growing more powerful, it's advancement too rapid for any attempts to curb it.
People living in The Deep are not unheard of, however. Outcasts, vagabonds, and even the unlucky explorer who lost their way, make their homes within the forest, surviving off of the earth. Those who have grown accustomed to the magic that subsists there have learned to navigate their way around The Deep, and some can even leave when they please, though it takes years and years to master.

Fauna & Flora

There are many plants and animals that inhabit The Deep that are not found anywhere else in the world. Because of the massive presence of magic in the forest, many of them have adapted to survive within and utilize the magic.
