Basetown
Watching the city go by was endlessly fascinating. There were brand names stamped on everything: on the sides of cars (few locals could afford their own), on the benches huddled around office towers (which were of course only for employees) and on the flagstones in public squares -- drab, uninviting places to the last. At one point they passed by a fenced-in park; Jinx couldn't help but notice the steep entrance fee, and the posters overflowing with rules of good conduct on each side of the gate. And everywhere he looked there were armed security guards.
