Rune Casting (subject)
History
Rune casting is an older version of magic that was uncovered in the ruins of the Northern Mountains and is often found used for traps in the old ruins. It is written in a language that was deciphered mostly through trial and error by Pog Reese and her team. Along with rune alchemy, it is one of the major discoveries made within the ruins. Since it's discovery, it has been used to do many things that new magic cannot.
How it Works
To make rune casting work, it almost always requires a form of outside energy. Academics who have graduated classes at the college of Dyme in the Forested Coast are gifted a crystal linked to Dyme's very own power source allowing them to draw power from it, no matter where they are on the material realm.
When rune casting, it must be remembered that casting also depends on intentions. Without them, the magic will be directionless and most likely will result in a rebound. This is why most rune magic is done as enchantments. The designed connections allow the caster to fully understand the outcome of their magic. Only the most studied scholars have been known to have cast even one spell without designs and done so successfully.
