Trickshot

Thomas Michaels

Physical Description

Specialized Equipment

Trickshot's friend, Weasel, designed and constructed a number of advanced devices for Trickshot's use. Trickshot's suit of body armor is made of a lightweight material which provides considerable protection from all forms of damage. In addition, it provides limited protection from toxins and radiation, and automatically deploys filters for gas attacks. Trickshot also wears biomonitors which keep track of his physical condition. In the event of a potentially lethal injury a signal is transmitted to an autoactivated hypospray injector which is located in a shunt on his side. The injector then dispenses a dose of Recuperative Accelerant sufficient enough to stabilize his vital functions and return him to consciousness if necessary. The autoinjector holds one dose, after which it must be reloaded with another ampule.

Another device Weasel created for him is an image inducer. It is limited in its capabilities. It's not sophisticated enough to allow Trickshot to mimic other people's appearances but it does allow him to change the appearance of his attire, even allowing him to wear his full armored jumpsuit with mask and appear to be himself in casual wear. Unfortunately, the complex nature of the illusion and the limited memory storage in the belt allows only one outfit to be stored at a time, and to download outfits one needs access to a computer. It also has a limited power supply, with a battery that can operate continuously for only a few hours before a recharge is needed.

Finally, Trickshot possesses an autoreel grappling gun which allows him to fire a line 150ft in length. The line is made of a strong, light fiver, and the gun has an autoreel strong enough to reel a 1/2 ton weight without straining. It has manual controls as well as a variety of automatic settings which allow it to be deployed or reel in to set lengths. It's a small unit which can be held in one hand or attached to Trickshot's belt.

Personal history

Thomas Michaels was a kid on the fast track to success. A gifted gymnast, at age 16 he was one of the top contenders to represent the US in the 1998 Summer Olympics. SO He had a great family and a beautiful girlfriend he was deeply in love with. In short his life was perfect. Then tragedy struck. With Thomas in the media spotlight, naturally the people around him would also be illuminated by the light. Like his girlfriend, Sharon, who happened to be a mutant. She didn't try to advertise it, but she didn't try to hide it either. And of course, some people didn't take too kindly to someone who's supposed to represent America in the Olympics having a relationship with a mutant. It's Just Wrong. The complaints came, from mail, radio talk shows, and letters to the editor. But Thomas ignored all the threats as the ravings of harmless crackpots. That is until some of those "crackpots" set off a bomb at his house to get him out of the running. Fortunately for Thomas, he had left to pick up some take out. Unfortunately, his parents and his girlfriend were killed in the blast.

In grief, Thomas dropped out of the competition to qualify. After the initial depression had worn off Thomas found himself in a great rage. He vowed to get revenge on those who killed the ones he loved. He began a program of intense training in combat abilities and techniques, determined to wage a one man war on anti-mutant hate groups. Using the money he had made winning competitions and the life insurance money from his parents, Thomas hired the best teachers money could buy to train him in the use of weapons, the martial arts, and infiltration techniques. One of his teachers was a master of the Throwing Art, which Thomas quickly mastered.

Once he felt he was ready, Thomas started hunting the ones responsible for the bomb. After managing to ferret out their whereabouts, he went after the cell which had planted the bomb, raiding their base of operations and killing them all. In that raid he rescued Weasel, a brilliant gadgeteer who the cell had kidnapped and tortured to force him to build anti-mutant devices. Grateful for his rescue and with a serious grudge against the organization that abducted him, Weasel offered to equip Thomas with high tech devices to help him in his vendetta against them. They became a team, doing serious damage to several operations of the anti-mutant organization. Thomas's handiwork impressed a number of people, and he received offers for his services from people needing skilled mercenaries. Waging a private war is expensive, so Thomas took some of the offers which he didn't find objectionable. With the money rolling in, and the excitement and adventure of the various missions he'd done, Thomas felt he'd finally found his calling.

Thomas Michaels is known in mercenary circles as Trickshot. He has a reputation as a skilled operative who gives discounts on jobs against anti-mutant hate groups. He is very selective about the jobs he takes, and tries to make sure no unnecessary collateral damage happens. He doesn't like to kill people unless it's unavoidable or if he feels the person really deserves it, and doesn't like working with anyone who kills indiscriminately. He has a definite affinity for style and flamboyance, affecting the air of a swashbuckler, and tries to be impressive and witty in all situations. He's absolutely serious about keeping any bargains he makes, and hates those who try to welch on a deal. Trickshot is a highly trained normal with no inherent metahuman powers. He has, however, mastered the art of throwing to such an extent that he knows exactly how to throw any object with the precision and force necessary to inflict massive amounts of damage. Any object, from a pen to a playing card, is a potentially lethal weapon in his hands.
