Specter, Chapter 4: How To Thwart Villains and Influence People

GREETINGS TRUE BELIEVERS!

It was a knockdown, drag out brawl across the Bunsen burners, True Believers, but our heroes pulled off the mission. Only to uncover this mystery runs deeper that one Oscorp Industries lab!

Last time, the team gathered in the basement outside the vault door to Oscorp’s underground lab. Dr. Adel was last to appear, having taken the elevator down from the third floor. The idea was sound but came with its own risk as it stopped without warning on the second floor… with two Oscorp Enforcers just outside the door!

Fortunately, they thought she was just another researcher. Double fortunate that they were feeling talkative. Idle chatter revealed that Oscorp has a backer for this mutagenic monstrosity of a project. One Dr. Joara Zarn-Del, a geneticist and behavioral scientist, Dr. Adel is all too familiar with… back on her homeworld of New Krypton!

Dr. Joara Zarn-Del represents a faction of New Kryptonians, or Kandorians as some prefer to be called, that want to return to the “Old Ways of Krypton”. Dr. Adel? She and many more blame those dogmatic “Old Ways” for what destroyed Krypton! Needless to say, they don’t see eye to eye!

But! Before Dr. Adel could learn more, the elevator completed its business and delivered her to the basement and the rest of the Wyldfire team.

With the clock ticking, our heroes leaped into action. Using brains over brawn, they disguised themselves as Oscorp employees and slipped into the lab. All went according to plan until one of the ominous meta-powered Oscorp Protectors grew suspicious. The fight was on!

In moments, it was all over with Wyldfire the victor along with one Oscorp tech who lent a hand in exchange for a favor… rescue her brother from the clutches of AIM! Naturally, our heroes agreed.

Now, with samples, research reports, one mutated kidnap victim and more from Oscorp, the team has raced back for some much needed scientific help.

For a case this strange, this unusual, they head to the one scientific mind that has dealt with Oscorp Industries secret projects before… one Dr. Henry Horatio Edward McCoy! Otherwise known as the cobalt blue furred “Dr. Beast”.

Will Dr. McCoy be able to help our heroes confirm what Ocorp is trying to make? Is this some twisted “Build-a-hero” project? Or perhaps something more sinister? They know they need to learn this fast. True Believers, there are four more kidnap victims missing… and time may already be running out for them!

Strange rumors send the Wyldfire team to investigate a modest and nondescript Oscorp Lab building on the southern edge of the Metropolis Research Park. Sources suggest Oscorp has some connection between five missing ooze victims in New York and a shadowy bio-genetic “special project” for “life enhancement”.

This is compounded by the fact that Oscorp is one of the companies studying the mutagenic ooze from the New York.

Wyldfire’s mission

  • slip into Oscorp, look for any sign of the missing five from New York
  • while there, check the lab’s database and samples to see if they are indeed connected to the violently mutagenic ooze from New York.
  • If the missing people are there, quietly free them and get them to safety.
  • If the company is operating a shadow project involving the ooze, now considered a toxic and controlled substance, get copies of the research to send to the authorities.

  • Once they arrived...

The plan, to use a "Bloodmobile" and administering company sponsored vaccines to the employees, went off without a hitch. Medkit and Dr. Blake provided cover, while the others searched the building. In no time, the search turned up:
  • Oscorp is indeed using the mutagenic ooze samples from New York for some new, and possibly dangerous, 'enhancement' project.
  • Some results of this project may already be up and about! The building is guarded by not just Oscorp security in various forms, but also a collection of mysterious "Oscorp Protectors"!
  • Oscorp seems to have access to Kryptonian technology! Devices they are not supposed to have!
  • And last... and most important... they have one of the missing kidnap victims from New York!

  • And Now!

The team has liberated one of the missing kidnap victims, research samples, copies of research report data, and a Kryptonian Tri-Comm being used by Oscorp! As a bonus, they recovered a mysterious ‘replicant’ type android made from a mysterious polymer.

They know from a surprise ally in the form of an Oscorp Field Tech, that the other kidnap victims have been taken to a location in Jersey, an off-shore platform, or both!

And then, there is this “Dr. Joara Zarn-Del”, a scientist from New Krypton who seems to be the silent partner in Oscorp’s current escapades. What is her stake in this? The team doesn’t know, but the clues suggest something sinister.

An abundance of clues and no clear direction means the team has reached out to an old friend, Dr. McCoy, for some scientific help. Coupled with what the good doctor uncovers, Wyldfire must…

  • Slip into the next location undetected, looking for any sign of these still missing kidnap victims.
  • If any of the missing people are there, quietly get them free to safety.
  • Check any data or records for further details on this mysterious “Project Protector” that Oscorp Industries has invested in.
  • Check for any more information as to how deep Dr. Zarn-Del’s is involved. Is she a silent partner? Or active participant?
  • Relations
