Baberg

The Free Cities of Baberg are a proud people who were made into a feudatory of Isclene's Kingdom of Taraca. Guaranteeing their independent status from the rest of Tarasca at the height of her conquests, Isclene was able to subdue the entire region without having to fight each city and their armies, a potential exhaustion for her armies.

Now, free of Tarascan control, Baberg has unified under an elected Grand Burgher who speaks for the Free Cities when interacting with foreign dipliomats. Individual trade treaties can be signed, along with defensive or offensive treaties as riders, but to gather the whole might of Baberg lies only with the current Grand Burgher. There are elections for the Grand Burgher but for the last ninety years Bastadt has been the city from which the Grand Burgher is elected. It is believed that their exclusive trade deals with Aichia provides funding for bribes.
