The Curious Incident of The Rams In The Night Time

The Curious Incident of The Rams In The Night Time

Introduction

In the city of Bo Ma, there was once a prophecy foretold by one of the city-hired fortune tellers. Known as one of the most unfortunate tellings in history, it led a man and his husband on the greatest adventure they ever lived. They had gone to check on their future as they were looking to sell their farm, and all of their rams, and move to the The Court Of Indicolites where they would retire, spending their days leisurely fishing and allowing their later years pass by, perhaps even adopting a child (likely a water genasi) to raise and being a fisherman. They had carefully planned out all of their moves, and they wanted to check that the Wheel was in alignment of their plans.

The Reading

The readers name was Caelel Bloomfeather, and his office was deigned in a pattern of 21 differently coloured feathers. Every sect of the wheel had it's own colour, and they were pinned to the wall in the order of the wheel, but the rest of the office was rather spartan. Not many traditional candles or incenses, and the desk was a simple writing desk without much flair to it.   Cralduzas and Shay Onugi entered the room and sat down sheepishly. Caelel flexed his wings, and began to shuffle the deck. Cralduzas put his silver down on the table, and slowly pushed it across to the other side. Caelel put the deck face down on the desk, and began to show his way of doing a reading. He placed the silver on top of the deck, placed a talon on top of it, and took four long and deep breaths.   He took one card from underneath the silver, allowing he silver to fall back down on to the next card. Putting the card face down on the table, he then repeated this twice more before getting up, walking over to the chest and placing the silver in it. He sat back down at the desk and placed the deck in a small divot on the table. As he turned over each of the cards, he spoke softly.   "Death, reversed."   The colour in Cralduzas's face begain to drain.   "The Tower, reversed."   Shay's face joined Cralduzas in colour,   "The Moon."   A puzzled look flashed across Shays face, as he sat staring at the three cards, Death, The Tower and The Moon   As he normally would, Caelel left a few, brief moments of silence to allow his customer to reflect upon the reading, before saying; "Is there any further information I could provide for your reading?" Cralduzas somehow managed to mumble "N..no.. that's it thank you." before standing up, and walking outside. As Shay sat there, he heard the soft sobbing of his partner. "Honoured Wheel reader, perchance may I pick your brains on the meaning of The Moon in this scenario?" Caelel smirked. "Of course, how can I help?" Shay gulped, and hoped that his question would not be taken in offense "Could The Moon represent that the Death, and Tower cards, are not true? Or perhaps, they are true, but their orientation not?" Caelel nodded, once again his manner soft, and pondered his learnings from his time at The Eastern Pinnacle. "It could, yes. However, I would not use this in order to doubt your reading. Be prepared for the reading that you have been given, and allow The Wheel to show you the truth through time." Shay nervously nodded, and stood up. "Thank you, Caelel." He outstretched a hand, and Caelel stood up to meet it. They shook, and Shay left.

The Aftermath

Overnight, Cralduzas tossed and turned, plagued by nightmares. He found this odd considering The Moon card was not reversed. When they woke up, all of their Rams that they had on their farm, were gone. Cralduzas fell to the floor, bursting with tears. For a few days, all Cralduzas did was cry. Their plans for the future were gone.   Or were they?   Cralduzas and Shay decided to lock up the farm, and leave, on a quest to get back their Rams. Cralduzas packed months worth of rations, and his axe. Shay picked up his staff and book of spells after many years of not practicing magic. They started by searching the local farming villages and asking the other farm heads. Nobody had seen anything. They took to the hills. In the hills, they found many, many kobolds, defending what appeared to be a cave-village that they had never heard of before. They skirted carefully in the area around the caves, before, just before dusk, they found a small plane amongst the hills. On this plane were some small, kobold-sized tents, and a fenced area, which, within... they could see their rams. They laid low, plotting for the next couple of hours. They saw where the kobolds were taking post, and decided how to get their rams back.   When the darkness hit, they executed their plan, and they executed it flawlessly. As the sun was rising, the rest of the local farm heads could see them herding their rams through the hills and back to the farm.   Instead of retiring to the Court of Indicolites, instead they decided to adopt 3 orc children, who they raised to run the farm, and lead the farm for them as they lived out their years. Once the children had been trained to run the farm by themselves, Cralduzas and Shay would go to the coast every summer, and fish, reminiscing on their great adventure to get back their rams and their reading from Caelel. They never went to a different reader after their wonderful adventure provided to them by Caelels reading.
