Thrace

Thrace Cato

The Cato family is one that's known all through Rylan, Frial and even in the elven peasant lands. It's a name that's synonymous with timely deliveries, quality ore and reasonable prices. The Cato's are merchants and owners of a large ore refinery in Rylan, their reputation in business is one that traces back to before the time of the Queen's War and the founding of the city.   For Thrace Cato, none of that long and distinguished heritage belongs to her. It's a prized bit of trivia that belongs to her sisters, brother, parents and grandparents. It's a history of destructive waste and opportunistic bullying. She was a commodity like the forest trees that fueled her family's forges. She was a token thing to married off to a family with logging rights or river boats or any number of other business assets that would bring the bloodline prosperity.   Rather than embrace her obligations to the Cato Household she left it all behind and traded her opulent lifestyle for a place in the Sarmyar, the nature cults that wander the Rylan woods. She learned how to embrace her cravings, pursue her passions and live a more deliberate existence.   It's also where she met Godfrey and The Choir. Briefly, she traveled with them, learned of their more extreme views on civilization versus nature and how to become a true druid. In The Choir everyone shared everything. There were no secrets, no ownerships, just work toward the singular goal of restoring nature's strength. Knowledge, body and soul were all shared and given freely.   When The Choir's methods turned violent Thrace fled their group. They'd begun studying the darker aspects of nature's urges and plotting bloody vengeance on the forest's behalf against the logging teams. It's there in forbidden glades and groves deep in the woods that she found a dead soldier return to life. Using the last of her Manacite she helped restore his memories and flee the woods.   Now the pair wanders the roads between Rylan and Ghal Pelor seeking the people and places their aid is needed. She does the best she can to bring a little joy to the lives of others while making sure to bring as much joy as possible to herself.

That is where she met a group of nature worshipers and druids with more extreme views on saving Tairos.   There she met Godfrey, the leader of a group of nature worshipers and druids. The group called themselves The Choir as they believed they'd tapped into nature's voice. Godfrey and Thrace were close in the beginning and even intimate but she found their methods to be increasingly violent. She eventually parted ways with The Choir and struck out on her own as a traveling healer and sage.   She used the last of her stores of Manacite to try and heal the mind of a wandering, lost, knight she found in the darkest parts of the Rylan Woods. She's been traveling with him ever since.

"Look, we could go into the woods tonight and deal with those damn FIshbiter goblins. It's going to be very cold and very dangerous. But we could if you really want to. Or... we could stay in this warm tavern tonight, tell the locals some exciting stories, get free drinks and free fucks and then go into the woods tomorrow morning when it's less cold and less dangerous. You pick but it's kinda obvious what the right thing to do here is.
