Goga, “Lead” Investigator of The Savage

Living his best life hunting outside and inside Frial in support of his wild circle. Largely decries the city even as he occasionally takes advantage of its vices.

Goga Gem-Eater (Formerly Embermead)

When your life has been picked out for you before you have a chance to voice any objection, is society to blame? Of course it is. A typical upper crust family in a typical side-of-a-mountain stronghold demands great contributions from its scions, no matter how ill-suited one was to the endeavor.   In actuality, Goga was quite good at living up to those standards. The Embermeads are a long line of stonemasons that went back many centuries, distinguishing themselves in their grand architecture. As a son of that clan in Ghal Ankhar, Goga was educated in the typical dwarven fashion of appreciating the artistry behind their grand works. That, and being a humorless taskmaster in continuing those traditions. Unlike most dwarves, he despised the grand halls of his home and found it suffocating. A terrible cave in while inspecting some newly erected tunnels one day gave him a chance to experience some actual suffocation. Feared lost, his family gave up the search for his body after several days. In truth, Goga survived and was changed by a strange energy that he surmised had caused the accident in the first place. He spent weeks digging himself out with his bare hands, and eventually found his way out, near death from the exertion.   The intial reunion with his clan was glad, though they were immediately repelled by his suddenly ashen skin and whitened hair. All the inhibitions he once had fell away and the near dwarf-slaughter of one of his kin in an argument caused his exile from Ghal Ankhar. He was glad to leave. Once free under the open sky, he began roaming the wilds, traveling as far as Frostmere and even touching the jungles to the south. A dwarf’s got to drink eventually though, and so he found work as a mercenary, his great size by the standards of his people and aggressive demeanor helping find him employment. Over the years he started finding he had a strange affinity with wild animals. A caravan guard job eventually brought him to Frial, where a run in with a local gang nearly got him into a dungeon cell. If not for catching the notice of a spy from The Savage, he might have been taken by the Order of the Lion. As it was, he was able to be spirited away before he could take wild form for the first time in the ruckus.   Red Claw wasn’t entirely certain why Goga was able to access certain abilities without previous natural gifts or a patron, but he aimed to take him and turn him into a weapon in their arsenal. For his part, Goga was glad to find people of a like mind; disinterested in the pretend of polite society and bringing the wild magic of the land back to the fore. He had long disowned the Embermead name and took on the mocking moniker Gem-Eater. It wasn’t meant to be literal, but his new friends appreciated the sentiment.
