Frostmerite Warband
The old Frostmerite hoards were said to be a true sight to behold. Scores of men and women hungry to reap glory from the coming bloodshed and wanting nothing more in return than a good death. Today, all we're left with are war bands but I tell you... none of that hunger is gone. Knowing so few remain makes seeing even the humblest of formation a thing of rare privileged.
About as organized a unit in a Frostmerite Warband would ever be. This is a representation of a war company from the days before the decline of Frostmere. You can tell by the way the hearthguard use long "Stormbreaker" axes that this is a gathering from an Eastern Frostmerite stronghold, one well accustomed to fighting off Stormlanders.
This also approximates, at the company level, a unit which might have been sent to fight in the grand concordance. 62 strong, including a skald and commanders. Infantry for the shield wall, some levied archers in case of damned harpies or other fell fliers, stormbreakers, and some old men who discovered that if they take enough of the special mushroom painkillers, shit, nothing hurts - we'll come along!
In "modern" times, this might represent the best equipped warriors one of the better off estates could muster, or a royal retinue.
Composition
Training
Typical warbands are often engaged in such frequent combat or hunting excursions that no formal ongoing training is required. Prior to joining a warband the initiate will often have had experience in a squire-like capacity or similar role. Again, no formal training exists and any practices regarding training will vary from band to band.
History
Historical loyalties
Frostmerite Warbands put their loyalty first to the Jarl whom they serve (or to the King of Frostmere if they are part of the Royal Retinue) and second to the Kingdom of Frostmere. Much of this ties back to their origins as a tribal people and their deep appreciation for independence. However; individual Jarls frequently make pacts with each other as well as with non-Frostmerites. They also believe in the importance of the Frostmerite King (for without such a position they would be as directionless as the Stormlanders) and Totem Spirits of Tairos. These are all causes that would rally support successfully from the Jarls. In times long past they would also have been more than willing to contribute manpower to The Grand Concordance of Tairos
