Tailoring Worlds

If you are here, you probably want to create a new world, be it for a game, a novel, a comic, an RPG campaign or any other reason. Maybe a world with magic, where wizards fight against dragons; maybe a world with advanced technology, where people can shoot lasers from their fingers; maybe a world where the supernatural hides among the common people, just waiting to pounce...   It doesn't matter if you want to create a new Narnia or a new London: if you want seriously to create a unique world (unless it doesn't have anything to do with Earth), it's necessary to understand how our world works: why things are how they are, and what could them be with the right stimulus?   What does it mean to be civilized? Why aren't there trees in a desert? How some animals can breathe underwater? How does a religion become popular? Can chickens talk?   These are questions that may help you create your setting, and I'm sure there are many others. And that's why I'm here. To teach—and learn—about our beloved Earth, be it nature or civilization, and help you to create a rich and credible world.   I'm just starting, but take a look around! I hope you find this place as useful as I'll do.
