Tableland

Hundreds of years ago, humanity leaped forward. They took the mighty idea of the nuclear power to their hearts and set forth creating inventions once thought impossible, nuclear powered cars got the kids to school and the men to work, robotic handymen built and maintained houses of bright colors, while robot butlers kept the picket fences out front a shiny white. Business men in heavy coats, covering their freshly ironed suits, tipped their fedora’s to diner girls serving hot coffee and nuclearly warmed breakfast cakes. Yet humanity was greedy, everyone wanted more, and more, and more, it’s for that reason that the world was destroyed by nuclear fire on January 20th, 2104. After the bombs were done falling, the nuclear winter that descended upon the world insured that even those who weren’t directly hit by the bombs, would certainly still be affected by them. The world changed forever, survivors banding together to keep what little supplies and protection they had, native tribes being remade from the reservations they had once been confined to, business men traded in their suit and tie for body armor and guns. Some were lucky to have been entered into the safety of the underground shelters, yet fewer still humans were lucky enough to have been off planet, with the Martian and Venutian colonies being safe from the destruction of the atom bomb and even the politics that caused them to be dropped. Now the weather has returned to normal, but the people remain changed, they group together to fight two headed beats deformed by radiation, and radiated zombie-like humans who were altered by the radiation.
