Malory
Area
Malory is a country of two sides: one civilized and akin to its neighbour and master Valdoran , the other half, untamable and wild.
For centuries, the Valdoran kings with the might of Francalia behind them have tried to tame the southern part of the country, but they have always been defeated by the human tribes who settled there two millennia ago.
A kind of truce has slowly emerged over the last millennia: the southern tribes accepted - in name - the King of Malory to be their lord on the condition they were to be left alone to govern their own clans.
While the northern shores of Lac Mignon are inhabited by people whose ancestors were Valdorans, the eastern shores of the lake below the @river belong to the clans of The Guarals .
On the southern shores of the Lac Mignon, there is another border, this time with the Kingdom of Narbonnan .
Habitat
- Rolling HIlls and Fields
The northern part of the country presents very much like Valdoran: gently rolling hills filled with fields and wood.
The climate is balmy and drier than in Valdoran.
More exotic fruit can be grown there like oranges, lemons, and olives.
Fruit is the main export of Malory and is exported all over Francalia, even reaching the shores of Le Contenson in the north.
These goods are transported to the free city-state of Dandigue on the Malory coast to be stored and shipped throughout the year.
- Lakeshore
The lakeshore of Lac Mignon is well known for its beauty and warm weather year-round.
Thus, it has lately become the winter residence of the Kings and Queens of Francalia.
The present King is very fond of his mansion on the Lac Mignon, Beltour .
The shoreline has become so fashionable that many lords and ladies fight among themselves to rent, buy or build residences along the lakeshore.
A huge 'tourism' industry has started to develop around the lake in winter and spring
- Rugged Hills and Temperate Jungles
On the eastern side of the lake, on the southern shore of the river Donoir, the ground rises rapidly and becomes difficult of access.
These are the clanlands of the Guarals.
Their cities and keeps are visible from the river Donoir and have been built on deforested hills above the dense jungle floor.
The Temperate Jungles of Malory and Narbonnan are one of the last true wildernesses of Francalia and will stretch from there on to the end of the continent.
