Solemnity breaker

Ruh Island by Naelin
When a person from the island of Ruh reaches their 24th birthday, Ruhks consider them to have reached the most important point of their maturity, and that they had developed their character enough to be defined as a person.
This is the point where their village will celebrate the person's Naming Ceremony, where the RuhRic of the town will announce the person's definitive name that they will carry from then on to the rest of their lives.   These events are solemn affairs, where alcohol and other psychoactives are forbidden before the announcement of the name. People only drink water, milk and juices up to then, but after the ceremonial part is ended, they are ready to loosen up and let the actual party start.

Loosening the spirits

The person's new name is received with joy, cheering, and with the bringing of the party's traditional celebratory food: The solemnity breaker, a thick dessert made out of teobrew seeds turned into both chocolate and coffee and strongly infused with sweet liquors. It may take many shapes and forms, but it is traditionally made into a pudding, sometimes over a base made out of sweet cake or directly taking the shape of a dripping wet spongy cake, and usually topped with whipped cream or creamy sweet cheeses with berries.   As naming ceremonies usually involve the whole village, many solemnity breakers of different varieties may be prepared for the event, and are usually accompanied by smaller sweet treats, generally also alcohol-infused, such as truffles or drunken cakes.   As the name implies, solemnity breakers are used to mark the point at which the ceremonial part of the event ends, and the consumption of alcohol and other psychoactives is allowed.

The proof of a tight bond

Stunveldt Island by Naelin
Solemnity breakers have a long history in Ruh, and this old tradition has only been possible due to their close bond with the people of Stunveldt, where the teobrew is farmed.
As the Stunveldti had their borders shut to any foreigners other than the Ruhk up to 2586 E.Alz, chocolate and coffee where unavailable to anyone outside of these two islands, and the very rare occasions where a foreigner from the rest of the archipelago was able to assist to a naming ceremony were also the treasured, exotic ocassions where they would be able to sample the teobrew-derived cuisine.

This food sounds delicious, and I love how solemn the event is up until the announcement of the name. Makes the celebration afterwards all the merrier! <3
