The Goldfall Ceremony
The Goldfall Ceremony is a monetary ceremony that is held every year at the start of a new year. This holiday is celebrated in the Dulkan Merchant Commonwealth, as they sacrifice some of their money to ensure a years of prosperity. This festival is hosted through party games and festival activities where all the gold given is put into a giant pot. The money is then melted down and sacrificed for the Deity to bless the oncoming year.
The holiday's true meaning is to flaunt the Dulkan's wealth, especially the rich and wealthy. To show how much money you have, nobles often try to one up their noble counterparts to gain any kind of fame they can. Anything to gain favor with the country's rich. This holiday is especially profitable for performers and artisans alike, who make names for themselves by performing arts and putting their goods on display.
Any followers of The Deity during this holiday are said to have their powers boosted. This is especially so to those that "donate" large portions of their monetary wealth to the Clergy during this holiday.
History
The Goldfall Ceremony has its roots before the Dulkan Merchant Commonwealth's conception and has been celebrated for hundreds of years. During the times of the Divine, this holiday was created as a holiday of excess. Where people with a lot would help those who do not have a lot. It had it's roots as a holiday of uplifting others. The others that weren't as fortunate as you. This was the holiday created by a fallen god of currency.
However now, the holiday's meaning has been twisted. The core of the holiday, one's excess is still prevalent. But the holiday's other meaning of helping the less fortunate has fallen to the wayside and has been completely forgotten. A new meaning, one of blessing the Deity has persisted and has maintained itself.
