May Ore Material in Talthei | World Anvil

May Ore

Another strike, and another sheet of rock fell away. Opps could swear that he was looking at the night sky made solid, indigo glowing softly while iridescent sparks twinkled and burst before twinkling again.   "Found some!" he shouted behind his shoulder, hearing his call echo down the shaft before footsteps started traveling his way. "May ore!" Quickly after he heard the footsteps, the joyful whooping and yells followed. He looked back, trying to approximate the size of the vein. It was going to be a good payday.

Properties

Material Characteristics

May ore is a crystalline-appearing material. Rising in spires and points, the deep indigo ore is relatively physically delicate.

Geology & Geography

May ore is found exclusively in the Dewellian-Esteian Forest, and export of may ore is a primary cash source of both Dewellian and Dwixi tribes.

History & Usage

Everyday use

May ore is refined by mages and merchants into stones of power, which can be used to power machines without a magician's intervention as well as empower a mage's abilities.   The most common use of may ore is to be refined and used for temperature control materials. Stones of warmth and cooling are modestly priced and a simple way of making outdoor spaces more comfortable.

Cultural Significance and Usage

While may ore is vital to much of the mechanical magic usage of Talthei and many styles of craftsmanship, few people know what may ore actually looks like beyond a basic description. However, it is highly valued in Dewellian culture in its unrefined form for it's beauty. Most villages have at least a few pieces leading into sacred places to provide both a clean scent (very ozone-like) as well as low levels of lighting.

Refinement

While may ore is valued by some specific cultures for it's beauty and scent, the common path of may ore is to be refined into stones of power.
