Neko'Mari are a very young race, which came into existence when the first humans met the feline species of the Hrothgar around 300 years ago. The Neko'Mari are seen as universally beautiful by many other Species and their curious minds and agile bodies make them very adept at several skillsets. Most Neko'Mari have adapted very well and integrated almost seamlessly into the intergalactic society, while few of them still suffer from their more primal ancestry and struggle to fit in.
Playing a Neko'Mari
- Strife to find your place in the universe.
- Either have a certain fondness of humans and view them not as your progenitors but as equals.
- Or despise humans and view them as inferior to your Species.
- Enjoy the attention of other Species and like being beautiful to them.
- Have a curious and inquisitive mind. Learning new things every day is exciting to you.
Other Species probably
- View you as very beautiful and either adore or envy you for this.
- Value your agility and quick reflexes.
- Frown upon your curious nature and get easily bothered by your questions.
- See you as a pretty plaything, but don't take you seriously.
The Neko'Mari are seen as universally beautiful by many other Species, especially by humans. They have very slender and agile bodies, similar to those of humans, but with a few key differences. They have feline ears, eyes and teeth, as well as a feline tail. Some of them have even developed more feline features, like paws, claws or in extreme cases even more feline legs. They are very agile and have quick reflexes, which makes them perfect for jobs in difficult or dangerous terrain or for those that require rapid reactions.
Despite their Hrothgar ancestors' herd mentality, the Neko'Mari don't actually enjoy large gatherings of their own kin. Most of them prefer the company of humans over that of other Neko'Mari and be it only to feel special. When large groups of Neko'Mari meet it often comes to rivalries and fights between them. This is the reason why, apart from Hrothai, there are no big Neko'Mari communities and most of them just live scattered among humans or in settlements of other Species. When it comes to other Species and especially humans though, Neko'Mari can often be quite the opposite. They enjoy attention and being with other people, as they actually hate being completely alone. If a Neko'Mari builds a friendship it usually lasts for a lifetime. They can be quite selfless when it comes to people that are close to them and many Neko'Mari would rather die than let major harm come to their loved ones.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Most Neko'Mari live on Hrothai, the former homeworld of the Hrothgar, but they can be found anywhere where humans live too. Especially in recent years they have ventured to ever further solar systems, proving to have developed at least some of the adaptabiltiy their human ancestors posses.
Neko'Mari have very curious minds, they sometimes even act childish or naive. But they are actually quite smart and their inquisitive nature comes from the enjoyment of learning new things and the strife to build a place for themselves in this endless universe. some Neko'Mari go so far as to despise the child-like attitude that some other Species face them with and strife to prove themselves as stronger and more intelligent than other races.
Civilization and Culture
Neko'Mari are a very young race, which came into existence when the first humans met the feline species of the Hrothgar around 300 years ago. Today the Hrothgar no longer exist, but their offspring with humanity, the Neko'Mari, thrives and starts populating the universe more and more with each passing decade.
The Neko'Mari, being a very young race, didn't have much time to develop an incredibly diverse structure of subspecies, yet one still exists since their earliest days.
The Necuni'Mari are very similar to other Neko'Mari, the only big difference being their leporine features, instead of the usual feline ones. Instead of feline ears, they have long leporine ears, that greatly increase their hearing ability. They are less agile, but much faster runners and way more perceptive than their feline cousins. Necuni'Mari are said to be very compassionate and even though they only exist in rather small numbers, when compared to their feline counterparts, they are well liked by most other species. Necuni'Mari and feline Neko'Mari can reproduce with each other without any problems. The offspring of this union is usually feline Neko'Mari (~80%) and only rarely a leporine Necuni'Mari (~20%).
So similar to normal Neko'Mari, the Vulpo'Mari are often mistaken for their more common relatives, but they feature canine features, instead of the usual feline ones (so e.g. Fox- or Wolf-like). Vulpo'Mari are often shy or aggressive and contrary to most Neko'Mari, they actually prefer to stay solo for most of their lives. Many of them end up as loners, but it doesn't have to be like this. While Vulpo'Mari have a hard time building relationships, they can be some of the most compassionate and loyal partners of all sentient Species. Many Vulpo'Mari would rather die than seeing their chosen partners get hurt. Vulpo'Mari and feline Neko'Mari can reproduce with each other without any problems. The offspring of this union is usually feline Neko'Mari (~65%) and less commonly a canine Vulpo'Mari (~35%). Vulpo'Mari and the leporine Necuni'Mari can also reproduce, resulting in a more even spread of offspring, about 55% canine Vulpo'Mari and 45% leporine Necuni'Mari.
