Molozzakeni Settlement in Svanadel | World Anvil

Molozzakeni

Describe a bustling market settlement in your world. What can I find for sale?   The clan of Dwarves known Zha'Kov'Adan Dwarves was once a nomadic tribe of surface dwelling Dwarves. Many years ago, a group broke down at the end of their route near the coast, with a great storm . What luck it was that this roughly intersected a road traveled often by wanderers, performers, and all sorts of colorful characters. A city sprung to life within a hundred years, with magnificent "Grecian" styled architecture. The city of Molozzakeni is one of the few remaining independent cities, belonging to neither the Corezzion Dominion State nor the Ronzfir Empire.   The Molozzakeni are generally a landless nation these days, as many have taken the life of the shipping lanes. The lanes lead to the Maso'ani Islands and off to the East.

Jealous Gods

The gods they pray to are considered to be some of the most jealous around the continent. The Goddess of Storms and Seas contends with the God of Prosperity and Fortune in this port. Many superstitions exist regarding different things that set the other off. Many merchant sailors find themselves torn between to masters, and do their best to balance their beliefs in each.

Distinguished Admiralty

The city itself has formed its government in a similar manner to that of a ship. Members are chosen by the current Lord Admiral.

Coinage - A Means to an End

There are some who say you can buy anything you desire in Molozzakeni, so long as you're willing to barter with enough. And to that end, most people are right. Without some of the high priced Dominion State resources or the devotion of the Iron Empire soldiers, those who stop in Molozzakeni tend to be of a much more varied background. The Anchorage does their due part to make sure law and upstanding citizens make a good name for the nation, but groups such as the Fanday Mauraders and the Tidewash Smugglers have managed to keep a small yet firm hold amongst the underdocks of the city. The Anchorage has cleaned up most of the older slaving runs, but illicit items and exotic pieces from the islands that wish to avoid taxation seem to disseminate through the town at a huge rate.

A Rodent Problem

The beaches of Molozzakeni were home to a variety of creatures. Nowadays, many of the local wildlife has given way to the city, save for one creature. The Mangee, a curious rodent that seems to be a combination of a kangaroo and a rabbit. Some have been domesticated and a curious pet, while there still exist many wild ones, competing with the gulls and other urbanized wildlife to procure food and favor from the people. The burrows of these creatures harass the shoreline, and they are curious more than anything. However, they love to collect much of the shiny and tasty foods and objects that come through the port, leaving interesting treasure pods. They are sharp and seem interested in studying the citizens (insofar as they can).

The Shimmertide

The Shimmertide affectionately gets its name for the people to spill into the streets at times, be it for food, for worship, or a mass migration of ships from the docks. Then, in an instant, the Shimmertide empties, closes, and is it's own spooky part. The trade is fast paced, vibrant, loud, and a way for people to exchange ideas. The markets of many other cities rise and fall on these daily purchases in fact. The people
