Salli always considered herself an empath, she felt her connection to people to be a genuine understanding of others emotions. It always helped her make friends, since she traveled with her parents so much. But her parents never seemed to share that trait. Although she enjoyed the new places, having to move so often always made her sad. So she began causing disruptions to make her parents stay longer.
So once her parents spent 6 months in India, she thought they'd have a genuine connection with the people there. Enough to at least make her parents decide to stay. During her time she met a guy who was charming and funny. She fell in love, spending every moment she could making memories with him. As her time there drew to a close, and her almost reaching 18, she pleaded for them to stay. Only for them to once again to reject the idea.
The guy she met convinced her to run away with him, as she was turning 18 anyway. She just needed to take some money from her parents so they could start fresh together. He showed her how to get access to their accounts and took 75,000 dollars from it. She left a note saying she needed to be on her own and she was gone. Once they the money he drove her far out to the country side, pushed her out and left her in the wind. Her parents assuming she ran off with their money left, and she was all alone. The sheer sadness she felt allowed her powers to show themselves. Using her powers to get by and survive until she was found by Ms. Information.
