Shards of Chaos

Not nearly as nasty an artifact as you might think. In a literal sense, the Shards are made from a metal sheet that came from a communications satellite that was shot down by the various governments of the world when they discovered it had been co-opted by what very shortly became known as the latest iteration of the Chaos Coalition. Incidentally, this move pushed them more into the spotlight and caused them to do a lot more damage than if they'd otherwise been left alone.
The Shards of Chaos are, in theory, artifacts of extraordinary power that grant the wielder untold powers and such nonsense. In reality, they are membership tokens with some limited communications technology input. While some members of the coalition have further modified their Shards, most leave it as what it is: a walkie talkie with an arcane reputation.
