Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouth. But people joke that William was born with a bow and arrow in his. William was always involved with archer. His parents even met at a competition. He first competed at the age of 10 and has won countless awards. He was on no less then 3 Olympic teams (took bronze and silver). But his true calling was the technical end. When he was 12 he didn't like any of the bows he could buy so he made his own. By the time he was 17 he was making and selling bows and arrows and all manner of accessories.
His moment of epiphany came when the heroine The Shrike came to him. She was fighting a nasty brute called Fortress who was armored from head to toe. Her arrows simply bounced off his armor. She gave him a piece of the armor she had managed to (after great effort) cut off the villain. She wanted arrows that could puncture that armor. William dug into his books and after a short visit to the local museum found the design he needed. It was a 12th century armor piercing arrow designed by some anonymous Englishman for puncturing the armor on French knights. He managed to melt down the piece of armor (even if it did take a visit to the university and it's plasma furnace) and form a dozen armor piercing arrows. Shrike was VERY happy with the arrows and paid him a lot of money. Two days later William was delighted to see in the news how Shrike had captured Fortress. It put the idea in his head that HE could fight too.
A month later the new hero William Lionheart appeared! At that point he was just a human wearing a cape and hood over leather armor. A visit to an exhibition at the museum led to him meeting Misha and the Nanites. The nanites offered to 'enhance him and he accepted. He chose a lion.
Most people know William as the designer and manufacturer all sorts of hunting paraphernalia and almost everything archery related. And almost everyone has seen one of his corny (and popular) TV commercials. Supers know him as a good and confidential source of bows and arrows. At last count he holds some 14 patents for various super related items. All this had made him VERY wealthy.
