Code name: Molot (Hammer)
Powers: Tanker Invulnerability/ Energy Melee
Activated: 12 March 1982
Project 1135 was started in response to a report of an American project to create a combat robot. That report was right but the American effort (project Rameses) was not a complete success. 1135L WAS a success. The resulting robot was strong, powerful and capable of (almost) totally independent action but did follow orders.
The problem? Cost - extremely high! The one Russian general when told the price commented, "I could train, equip and pay for the entire Third Shock army for the price of just that one robot." Efforts were then turned to making the robot cheaper so that it could be mass produced. Some efforts were made but the Soviet Union collapsed before any real success was achieved.
The one robot was named Molot and with much fanfare became a member of the Soviet Defenders of the Motherland team. It served there for several tears til just before the attempted coupe in 1991. He was dispatched with Team 2 to help with an attempt to once and for all finally defeat Iron Wolf. It failed very, very badly. Iron Wolf defeated all 7 members of the team and cut Molot in half with a sword cut. He then used the robots arm to beat another soviet super senseless.
Molot lay in pieces as the people of Eastern Europe re-arraigned the political landscape. But it is hard to keep a good person down and repairs on him went along albeit slowly. During the dark days of the Rikti invasion the repairs were hurriedly finished and he was reactivated. His briefing was . . brief - "Defend the humans. Kill the aliens." Since then he has served with the team Valiant Defenders of the Motherland and become a valued member. He holds the record as the ONLY person to ever win an argument with Snegurochka.
As to his sentience - Somewhere between his first activation and the modern day he became self aware. For a long time his programmers were attempting to imitate sentience - make him more human like. The best evidence is that somewhere along the line he slowly became aware as imitation became reality. Even he is not sure when it happened but he has studied it (and so has a lot of scientists).
