The Marks of a Master, Alnea

  • This ceremony is held by the Rinus Magicians Acadamy every year, immediately after the final exams. It’s offered free of charge, and not required to complete or pass, however attempting to do so and succeeding will give you an amazing career path as a master magician.
  • Only those with incredible technical skills in practical magic have a chance of passing, due to the extreme difficulty of the ceremony.
  • To be considered for the position of Headmaster at Rinus Academy, one must pass all three trials on their first or second try.
  • The judges of the trials are veteran Magicians and Sorcerers, who have now devoted their time to helping the next generation of masters achieve their greatest potential.
  • There are three parts to the Mark of a Master, each one is more difficult than the last.
  1. Creating a Path. To show off their skills in their wide range magical abilities, the participant has to build a complete pathway along ten miles of wooded area, without passing through or hitting a tree, standing still, with a blindfold. They must rely on their magic sight to avoid obstacles and create a path.
  2. Slicing Leaves. The student must walk through the forest, ready for action. One of the trees that they will pass will suddenly begin to violently shake without warning, causing thousands of leaves to fall from the tree. Their task is to slice as many leaves as possible before they touch the ground.
  3. Dueling a Master. The final and most difficult part is the duel, which is against a veteran magician. Their goal isn't to win but to survive for three hours’ worth of high-powered attacks from a master magician.
  • If they complete the three challenges, they are officially a ‘master’ magician, which comes with incredible benefits and job offers within the military of the government.
