Alnean Horse

  • Alnean horses are similar to horses from earth in many ways, due to the fact that the original Alnean horses were brought over from earth when humans arrived two thousand years ago. Alnea started out with only 20 horses, and now, two thousand years later, over 250,000 horses are used in everyday work, as well as in war.
  • They're roughly the same size, height, and weight, however, Alnean horses are usually slightly larger than regular horses.
  • While similar in many ways, their abilities are what sets the two world’s horses apart.

Abilities

  • The Alnean horse can run at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour for hours on end, due to a new organ they developed to turn magic into pure energy. This organ has been studied extensively by Alnean scientists and scholars, yet they haven't been able to replicate it.

Work

  • The horse works in many ways, including in farming, transportation, and everyday entertainment.
  • Farmers usually have enough gold to buy one to three horses, which in normal farms would be a good number, but some farmers get addicted to horse breeding, which is both dangerous and costly.
  • Horses also pull carriages of both wealthy and the common folk, but the quality of horse and carriage depends on the price one is willing to pay.
  • Finally, horses are used in races, plays, and brutal horse fighting, where two horses are put against each other for a fight to the death in front of a laughing and happy crowd.

War

  • In the ancient wars, horses were used sparingly and with caution, as good horses that can run fast and for long periods of time were both exceedingly rare and expensive.
  • Warriors would prefer their horses to wear armor instead of them because a soldier is one in five, but a good horse is one in one thousand.
  • In the more recent wars, horses have begun to be used less, and more daringly, due to the rapid invention and evolution of military technology, rendering close combat duels on horseback obsolete.
