Prairie's Demotive Video

In DRv3: String Theory, [3.7 - Tasting Despair], Prairie Marble is given a video of Rantaro Amami- one which is stated to have originally been recorded prior to his memory loss and intended for himself following his memory wipe.   The video has segments cut out to frame a different narrative than what was likely intended, and is given to Prairie as a demotive video on a pink kubzpad that resembles Monophanie.

Purpose

The original purpose of the video recording was to be one of two perks earned by a survivor of the previous killing game, Rantaro Amami. It was recorded by past Rantaro for future Rantaro after he has his memories completely wiped to give him a leg up in the killing game.   Monokuma repurposed the video and cut it in certain parts in order to hand it to Prairie early as a "demotive" video and frame a different narrative around the Rantaro of the previous killing game.

Document Structure

Caveats

  1. It is stated that Rantaro can't show the recorded video to anyone once he receives it, and that Monokuma will expel any students that view video recording. It's presumed "expel" in this situation very likely means death.
  • (subtext: It must be noted that this binding rule does not extend to Prairie's viewing/sharing of the video variant she received. None of the bears state directly that it's against the rules to share that one and only viewing of the "demotive" version of the video)
