Kufra's Chain

"In wearing these jewels, General, you're thoughts will be yours and yours alone. As long as you wear them no-one will be able to enter or poison your mind to your cause. May you live to return them."   Kufra's Chain is comprised of symmetrical four carat yellow diamonds on either side of a 12 carat yellow diamonds on a silver chain and, while one of the many jewels infused with Magic during the height of the Alchemists power, the only ones still easily locatable to this day as all others have been lost or stolen and hidden.

Purpose

The diamonds, unique among all gems in the ________, were rumored to have been gifted to the crown by ancient sea-farers and were shaped into their current form and worn by Prince Dorast during the First Age. King Arsha, recognizing the precipitous position of his power with the creation of Magic ceded the royal necklace to the war effort during the First War on Magic as they were the only gemstones sufficient in size to hold the power necessary to protect the wearer and those around them from Magic. In a moment of brilliance, recognizing what the Alchemists armies (who were nearly fully equipped with Magic) were capable of, King Arsha requested the Royal Alchemists enchant the diamonds in secret such that as long as the diamonds were worn, the wearer was shielded from others trying to pry on their thoughts and plans and protected from charms intended to frighten or worse. Despite the eventual loss of the monarchy, many historians believe that the war would not have lasted as long as it did or have been as bloody as it was had the diamonds not been worn by General Kufra as the general would have recognized the dire state of the war earlier and surrendered rather than the war concluding with the death of 100,000 men, including his own life.

Current Ownership

Following the First War on Magic, Kufra's Chain was gifted to King ________ the first king in the Age of Magic by the Alchemists who had placed him in the castle and has since passed down generation to generation both as a symbol of the monarchy and as a practical matter to protect the Kings from bad actors. While there have been multiple attempts to steal Kufra's Chain over the years, the necklace has remained with the Monarchy and currently belongs to King Balomed.
