Tales of the Three

In the system of Hurgon, into one of the numerous Steyford towns ; Savines.

Gontran the wise man of the village sat by the fire. Despite his old age, he had a warm and joyful face. When he told stories everyone was hanging on his lips. Its soothing voice carried her audience on her adventures.
"Come closer, children, I will tell you the story of our people's hope." All the children present, as well as the adults, approached Gontran. He began to tell his story.

"It was a night like any other in this peaceful village. You could hear the children laughing and the parents screaming and telling them to come home."

As he spoke the first words, the flames of the fire began to swirl. Gontran began to speak loudly and faster and faster. Great gestures accompanied his words.

"A tragedy would disturb the calm of this peaceful night. There an explosion was heard and the sky became red. Ships of metal were facing each other. At the same moment, black magi, accompanied by their demons, and False Angels came down from heaven. They were in conflict and this battle would devastate everything in its path."

He stopped for a moment, then takes a breath and calmly described the scene despite its grave air.

"The war finally arrived at the gates of our village. The fields were burning. A multitude of bodies of black magi, false angels and members of our people littered the ground. The houses were burning. The children and their parents were fleeing. The battle between the two peoples was in full swing. Just as all hope was about to be lost, he appeared."

Gontran stood up and praised the hero

"He had an armor as black as a starless night. His black, bright and considered as legendary sword was able of cutting everything. He was accompanied by his 2 acolytes. A metal giant whose strength and size was equal to 10 men and an elves whose arrows were as fast as lightning."

He takes a pause, then start back with a fiery eagerness.

"Our hero holds up a shining dawn-red banner and watches the battlefield. The giant, with a powerful breath, blew into a horn that made the earth shake on a large zone. To the sound of the horn, the fight stopped instantly. The hero shouted, "Inhabitants, peoples of this land, do not flee. Join my banner and let's repel these monsters together. And you monsters, if you understand what I say, leave this earth or you will suffer my wrath ! ».

At that moment the black magi and the false angels laughed. One of the magi approached him and said: "Ah ah you make me laugh little man. You really think you can push us away when your species has no weapons to cross my shield ? ». He had barely finished his sentence when our hero gave him a sharp blow and shot him. The black magi and the false angels remained paralyzed with stupor.

The hero shouted loudly: "Let's go, companions! Let's push these monsters away !". When our people heard these words, they joined his banner, his power. Together they began to repel the monsters. Those who were not fit to fight remained behind, protected by a stone wall the giant erected.

It was then that the wind came to our side. As if by magic, he blew on the projectiles launched by the monsters, which slowed their progress. Our warriors finally manage to push the opponents out of the village. After finding an empty plain, the giant built a stone castle. He became the rallying point of our people. After long battles and many loss, the monsters returned to their metal ships. Alas the massacre of our people was horrible. After the battle, our people drowned their pain in alcohol. Our saviour, for his part, disappeared leaving this message.

"I must go to my bastion which is on the frozen ground. Evil beings seek to seize an artifact found there. His loss could mean the end of the world."

Gontran had finished telling his story. The adults were crying. On the other hand, the children were playing the battle again, thinking they were glorious, brave ancestors of this story. He ended with these few words: "After many years, the hero returned and left us his sword. It is the symbol of our victory. He thought we were worthy to keep her and protect her. Now it's time for bed. I'll tell you a new story tomorrow."

Gontran went to rest in the stone castle near the village.
— Extract of the Tales of the Three, 2nd page, Calayere Edition.
Upon 1689, the Steyfords started to write up this story in a children story book, tale and numerous secondary ones into one collection of 328 pages; "Tales of the Three.". Later, upon their opening to the world, they started to commercialize and spread even more the tales of the book. Still, even with 328 pages, an extremely shorter version of 35 pages including this extract is presented to young children.

Veracity

A lot of historians and energylogues are according on the fact that this tale is probably inspired of real stories, firstly because the black sword quoted in the tales is a part of the Terinn Armor. This sword is known to be nearly indestructible and cut most materials known nowadays, but not the Amirascori. Secondary, the 2 characters following the "hero" (which still stays unnamed through the entire tale), are supposedly two Telistis, one of an air component, and a Silica one.   But, on a more "false according" aspect, even through the saying of peoples who passed the story through the Tarnhelmes, there are no visual certitude on the 3 main characters, only suppositions, interpretations. In comparison, the common enemies of the tales, the "false angels", the "black enemies" or "monsters" all have visual representation.   On another aspects presented into this extract of the general tale, the "false angels" have no real known counterpart, whereas the "demons" and "magi" are most often assimilated to Grimms manipulators and Grimmz creatures. These 2 last assimilation are often disapproved by the Grimms authorities, making them as cruel monsters and fighters.

Tarnhelmes

The Tarnhelmes is one of the numerous Melenis Artifacts of the world, which is a golden tiara encrusted with Tarkoïds. It allows the wearer to link his spirit to all living beings in his field of vision, and thus simultaneously send them thoughts, images, memories, ideas, or figurations. It is for centuries possessed by the Steyfords and used to transmit this story with details, which also reinforce the veracity of the story, but still having shadowing aspects of it (Since these formers don't share.)

Main known "tellers" of the story :

  • Marcelion Terinn
  • Gontran Fulmerinn
  • Sigurd Furinn

What is your objective with your world ? Hosting a table top rpg ? Anyway it's always cool to have tales like this that might be true, as I like to make players investigate on that. Anyway, well done, fellow french writer. We can see the effort you put in this. :)

Thanks ! Originally, the very start of Stellaria was an RP on Starcraft 2, then we evolved more and more, separating ourselves from Starcraft and become something totally independent. In the future, me and some others that also develop the world will use it for video games (RPG, Online Board Game, and a "ultimate" project of MMORP - Without the G !-) and/or books. If not those, we still have possibilities of another axis, like tabletop rp, movie(s), animation(s)..

I love children's stories. This one seems a bit dark, but I can see the draw for kids. Is it solely for entertainment or is read to teach the kids things about bravery? I also noticed in the first paragraph that you switched the pronouns a bit from a him to a her and then back.

Thanks for you review ! I agree that this one is a bit darker on some aspects, but it's true that the tale is surrounding some aspects frequently, including bravery as you said upward, but also teamwork. It also is an introduction in both complete and children version to the energies and the Telistis (A gene which allows someone to manipulate a type of atom, only found into few persons of the humanity.), and to how.. cruel, powerful, epic, full of sense & values can be the world when it come to fights.   Also thanks for the little fault.

I really like the way you told the story - alternating the story with descriptions of the storyteller really drew me into the story and gave me a feel for how stories are shared in your world. I also really like the sidebar art; it's adorable!   As a quick editing note (if you're interested), be careful with verb tenses. Both the story and storyteller description use past tense and present tense verbs; if I were you I would write the entire story in the past tense and all of the storyteller descriptions in the present.

Thanks for your love ! I will give a [Add 5 numbers]th look and change that problem of time telling ^^ If you really like story telling, I have few olders, including the Birth of Pok'Rias & the Birth of Korea'Cos, the first being really particular, telling the birth of a Gear of Evolution and the other being a bit more regular, but still a keystone in the story of its character as it is also a basis of one of the main myth of the world ^^
