Millatan
Millatan was up until recently a savage world, where blood flowed as freely as the gasoline. The scientific evolution on the planet was far enough along that the natives had automobiles and gasoline generators, but a constant state of warfare toppled every stable society which rose. The planet was ruled by warlords, most of whom gained their positions through cruel displays of strength and violence. Of note was the various Dragon Lords, massive serpentine beasts who literally breathe burning diesel, capable of swallowing an enemy Warmachine and sweep away entire contingents of soldiers with their tails.
This changed 18 years ago, when the Father Culling began a forced recolonization of the planet. With the aid of orbital bombardments, massive troop placements and overwhelming technological advantages, Sa’reed Masar broke the back of the majority of the warlords and Dragon Lords. Only those who agreed to comply with Systems Alliance standards of law and order was allowed to retain their domain. While most of the Dragon Lords were too stubborn and took up the fight, a small handful of them saw the outsiders as an opportunity to expand their rule and complied. Those who did not was eventually killed.
While the land is still plagued by lawlessness and bandits, those willing to put in hard work can make a decent living as ranchers or riggers.
The planet has a strongly arid climate, with most of the water concentrated at the poles in the ice caps. At the equator, crude oil bubbles freely from the ground, with gas build ups often resulting in sudden and deadly explosions. The source of the oil remains unknown.
With the disabling of the Drift Beacons, fuel and energy has suddenly become exceedingly valuable, making even the primitive gasoline-powered engines of Millatan worth a fortune.
HI Interstellar had already made a research station on the planet before the cutoff, but with the sudden increase in the value of oil, they have turned to the harvesting and refinement of the material. Within the HI Interstellar zones, there's almost a state of peace, although eager warlords are eyeing the company holdings with greedy eyes.
